Buddy Bench Cap Sorting

Our "Buddy Bench" Initiative is coming to fruition. The students and families of ASD have been collecting plastic caps (of various sizes) to send off to Green Tree Plastics for recycling and the making of a “Buddy Bench” for our playground. The initiative came from 9 year- old Sammie Vance of Indiana! ” After our Kindergarten and Student Council skyped with Sammie – everyone began to look at a possible solution. Sammie’s “Wish” is that her initiative will happen in each state.
Yesterday the students starting sorting the caps and learned more about recycling and saving our environment. We also spoke and learned about the need to be inclusive to all and many other ways that our school project “fits into” what we learn each and every day.
